Brook trout - Salvelinus fontinalis
Brook trout is fresh water species native to North America. It prefers spring waters or well waters, properly prepared for breeding. The optimum temperature ranges for brook trout is between 5 and 12°C with maximum level of 16°C. Fish does not appreciate intensive farming. It is very resistant against VHS and IHN. Its growth rate is fast but slower than the growth of rainbow trout. It is a very appreciated fish in terms of flesh quality and thus creates very good alternative to sparctic.
