Brown Trout – Salmo trutta m. fario
Brown trout is native to Europe and is present in our European natural fresh water environment. It prefers clear flowing waters with relatively stable thermal conditions. The optimum temperature ranges from 8 to 16°C with maximum level of 24°C. Intensive farming conditions are less tolerated. It is not very susceptible to VHS and IHN virus. The growth of the brown trout is slower compared to rainbow and brook trout. Its flesh is very delicate and tasty. The main goal of breeding brown trout is to restock the European rivers.
